西河:唐教坊曲。佳麗地:指江南。更指金陵 。用南朝奇謝眺《入城曲》詩句“江南佳麗地,金陵帝王州”。南朝盛事:南朝宋、齊、染、陳四朝建都于金陵。髻鬟對起:以女子髻鬟喻在長江邊相對而屹立的山。莫愁相傳為金陵善歌之女。女墻:城墻上的矮墻。燕子不知何世:劉禹錫《烏衣巷》:“朱雀橋邊野草花,烏衣巷口夕陽斜。舊時王謝堂前燕,飛入尋常百姓家?!?/P>
譯文南朝金陵興盛的情景,而今誰還能記憶呢?江岸環(huán)繞著髻鬟似的山峰相對聳立。長江的大浪長年累月?lián)浯蜻@座孤獨而寂寞的古城張著風帆的船正向遙遠的天邊駛去。臨水的陡峭山崖上的樹好像倒下來靠在崖上.莫愁姑娘或許曾在這里系過艇子吧!一切只剩下陳跡了,但只見郁郁蒼蒼一派青色,還有那濃霧中露出的半截城壘。夜半更深,月亮從女墻上升起來,而賞心亭東望著秦淮河.那酒旗飄揚、鑼鼓喧天的熱鬧景象究竟到休息去尋找呢?想來就是東晉時代王謝家族的府居所在。燕子不知道這是什么世代。燕子在夕陽里喃喃細語,好像也在相互訴說這里的盛衰興亡吧。
這首詞主要是隱括劉禹錫的兩首詩而成。其一,《石頭城》:“山圍故國周遭在,潮打空城寂寞回。淮水東邊舊時月,夜深還過女墻來?!逼涠稙跻孪铩罚骸爸烊笜蜻呉安莼?,烏衣巷口夕陽斜。舊時王謝堂前燕,飛入尋常百姓家。”張炎《詞源》說:“清真最長處,在善融化詩句,如自己出?!?/P>
這首詞是懷古詠史之作。作者面對金陵“佳麗地”,目睹自然界的滄桑,因而引起人事興衰的感觸,抒發(fā)出自己的政治見解和哲理觀念,表現(xiàn)了作者追念古昔和寄慨當今的思想情感。
全詞共三疊。第一疊寫金陵的山川形勝。首先點明金陵是一個“佳麗地”,接著以“南朝盛事誰記”一語總括歷史興亡之感。第二疊寫霧夜在斷崖邊憑吊古跡,曾經(jīng)系過莫愁佳麗的游艇之樹,而今已倒倚,舊跡仍在,可人事已非了。第三疊寫金陵觸目荒涼之慨。從眼前景物中,不見“酒旗”,不聞“戲鼓”,只見尋常巷陌中的燕子對語,引起作者對金陵古都朝代更替的無限感慨。
這首詞藝術技巧很高,它沒有正面觸及重大歷史事件,而是通過景物描寫作今昔對比,形象地抒發(fā)作者的滄桑之感,寓悲壯情懷于空曠境界之中,是懷古詞中別具匠心的佳作之一。
